Early mornings and late evenings are your best windows. Carp become far more active in cooler water, so being on the bank at first light gives you a serious edge. We regularly see our biggest catches between 5am and 8am during July and August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shallow water warms up fastest, so fish tend to retreat to deeper areas during the hottest part of the day. On our Match Lake, the deeper central channel is always worth targeting in summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Keep your baiting light. Overfeeding in warm water is one of the most common mistakes \u2014 carp have slower digestive systems in heat and won’t clear a large bed of bait. A handful of pellets or a few boilies is plenty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pop-ups and wafters outperform bottom baits in summer as the fish are often feeding cautiously mid-water. A bright yellow or orange pop-up over a sparse bed of pellets is hard to beat on a warm afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
