Never fished before? Or returning after a long break? Lakeview is the perfect place to start. Here's everything you need to know before your first visit.**What to bring**You'll need a valid Environment Agency rod licence — these can be bought online in minutes before you arrive. Beyond that, bring a rod and reel (we can advise on basic setups if you're unsure), a net, an unhooking mat, and a comfortable chair. For bait, we recommend maggots, sweetcorn or pellets for beginners. All are easy to use and our fish respond to them well. Bait can be purchased locally in Melton Mowbray before you arrive.**Which lake to choose**The Pleasure Lake is ideal for beginners. The fish are plentiful, the pegs are accessible, and the atmosphere is relaxed. Leave the Specimen Lake for when you've built a bit of confidence.**What to expect**Day tickets are available on arrival — no need to book for pleasure fishing. Simply pay at the fishery office and choose your peg. Our bailiff does regular rounds and is always happy to help with advice.**Rules to remember**Barbless hooks only, unhooking mat must be used, and all fish returned carefully. Full rules are on our Rules & Pricing page.We hope to see you on the bank soon.
